Red rooster gone all hissy

The secret weapon most call the red rooster has gone all hissy on me. Any ideas what might be up with it? Thanks andrew

Check your wiring, it could be something loose causing a grounding problem perhaps.

What transistor does it have?
You could see if the hiss is affected by temperature. Pop it in the fridge for 5 minutes then plug in right after you take it out.

I had a hiss with my creepy recently. Contacted brad and we were both stumped. I changed the battery ..... it’s working again :whistle:

Seriously though I had been disconnecting the input jack to preserve battery life and leaving the output in.
Looks like it was slowly draining the battery. Causing irregular hissing and white noise.
Had a few transistors give up too in various devices.
I guess these NOS things can test good but doesn’t mean they’ll always last or work well in a circuit?

I've had a few germanium transistors that went permanently bad after some time in treble booster builds - some noise, crackling sounds, so yeah shit can happen with time.

If it's rly bad noise, then I'd also guess there's some connection broke.
