Castledine JFET Boost & Olympic Custom Fuzz

Post by sciencefriction »

As requested, my quick and sloppy demo of the Castledine JFET Boost. Apologies to your ears in advance! :errr:

Recorded using my Amazon Fire Phone
2013 Gibson Les Paul 1958 Reissue stock (Bridge pickup only, oops, tone on 5, volume on 7.5 then later max)
Castledine JFET Boost
Magnatone 410 Custom 1x12 Alnico Speaker early 60s (Volume & Tone both on Noon to start, then volume Maxed)

I really enjoy using it clean to boost the treble, make things a bit more jangly. I don't know if it comes across in the demo because of my playing, but it can do the squawky Page thing great. It love it all across the dial, hitting the amp clean or dirty.

Castledine Olympic Custom Fuzz (Ge/Si Hybrid). Same setup as before. This time I switch to the neck pickup later in the video. Pedal settings don't change, I just ride the volume knob on the guitar. The pedal cleans up really well, and has a great range of tones. It's a really excellent blend of transistor qualities, and it's fat.

Thanks! I'll make a better demo in the future. I would like to record it using my '67 JMP 50 bass build and 2x12 scumnico cab.

No problem. I've got a few other pedals here with me, OD, fuzz, etc. So if you want to see it used with anything else just let me know.
