Room Micing / Detuned Fuzz Recording Basics

Would you mic close-up or combine it with room mics when using the 1x12?

Yeah, Ive recently learned that micing the 2x15 is not getting me the upfront sound that I'm after. If I had a 1x12 I'd use that, but for now I'll just make do with mcing the 4x12 and messing with the amp's EQ.
