Many High Quality D*A*M Fuzz Sound MkIII Clips... WORD!

Post by smogfalls »

Yo,

So, as promised, I've done a bunch more Fuzz Sound MkIII clips. Can't believe it's almost a year I've had this bad boy for now. And I never take it for granted. It's my most versatile fuzz by a long way. It covers so much ground. Everything you could need it just a volume/tone control movement away on your guitar... bliss!

It's been a while since I've done any decent clips, this time last year you couldn't get rid of me! So this is long overdue, and the Fuzz Sound is always my favourite pedal to do clips of.

Also, I'm going away for my 25th Birthday in a couple of weeks  followed by a France/Belgium tour with the band so I wanted to get the clips done before that.

Anyway, basically, I hit record and just played random stuff for an hour. These following clips are the "highlights", the bits that showcase the MkIII's versatility best IMHO.

All throughout I was using my Gibson Les Paul Studio w/Lollar Imperial pickups, going into the Fuzz Sound set with the Volume and Treble n' Bass at Noon, and the Sustain just backed off a touch from full.
Then it hit the Tiny Terror in 15 watt mode... Volume noon, Tone full and Gain at 10 o'clock.
The Terror goes through my Marshall 1960AV 4X12 w/Celestion V30's.
I recorded with a trusty old SM57 rather than my usual MD421 or e609. This ends up in Logic where I added a small amount of plate and room reverb.

All throughout I'm altering the Volume and Tone controls on the geetar, aswell as changing pickups. But I'd say 70% of it is the Bridge pickup (uncovered btw)

So, here we go...

1st up is the Clean Tone...

Next a bit of Led Zep...

Then some Hendrix and Beatles riffs...

Time for some Vultures and Sabbath riffs...

Lastly some noodling with more volume and tone control changes ongoing...

And here's an obligatory Gear pic... :marx:

Cheers dudes,

P.S: When I say "High Quality D*A*M Clips" I'm not being egocentric... I'm referring to the audio quality being 320kbps. Best I can do without posting the Wav's.

Very Kool Klips Xan... Nice work on the Vultures (did you have to retune or is Josh in "normal" tuning? What's the rest of your signal chain into the computer?

cheers mate. I just quickly figured it out in standard tuning, didn't bother comparing it to the album version but I should think it's meant to be in a different tuning as the shape I was using to play it was a little clumsy!

Anyway, this is the way I figured it out for standard tuning...

This time I was using my "portable" recording setup.

Signal chain from 57 simply goes...

Presonus Firepod > Old Soundcraft Mixer > DIY PC Running a super old school version of Logic (5).
Waves Reverb plugin and PSP Vintage Warmer for some very subtle limiting.

My more "permanent" setup is through a nice old Yamaha 02R mixing console which has a great EQ section that especially owns for mixing drums. This ends up in Logic 9 on an iMac.

Both these setups do their jobs perfectly well enough for me and I really like the simplicity of the portable setup. Makes recording rehearsals so effortless!

Anyway, hope that tab is of some use to ya!
