Rolling Stones - Satisfaction (Stereo)

Post by psycho*daisies »

Wow!! you guys, check this out.

Anyway, check Brian's acoustic guitar -- really audible, sounds way cool. Not the most ideal stereo mix, but it's something different.

Only thing is there's a problem with the speed; is it's a hair sharp/fast.

But still pretty fantastic.

Compare with released (Mono) single. (below) That one sounds correct speed/pitch but way too quiet.

Probably have my info mixed up here, but anyway I think the true stereo version was mistakenly released on very early pressings of Hot Rocks compilation.

Also at some point the people who do remasters MFSL!? from original tapes were given original tapes by ABKCO, but were instructed to not release the stereo version of Satisfaction etc.

Crux of the matter is that it has been on official ABKCO release(s), but due to rarity it's been been bootlegged a lot.

Well, i didn't find anything on the early vinyl Hot Rocks release, but it appears you are correct on that.

Because...

"You will still need to find the London/PolyGram CD version of "Hot Rocks 1" to have complete stereo versions due to the exclusion of Play With Fire, Satisfaction, and Get Off Of My Cloud in stereo format on these remasters."

http://www.rollingstonesnet.com/ABKCOs.html

Leave it to ABKCO to find a way to force fans to purchase as much of their catalog as they can, for the rest of their lives.

Allen Klein, what a piece of work. If ever there was a King Bastard of the Music Biz, that was he...Even from his grave, he's screwing us!

:gfu:

--------------

Anyway, wrong speed really screws up that song because it's all about attitude
and the tempo's gotta be right or there's not gonna be that swagger...

yeah, that i know.
The stereo one is a hair fast/sharp, Mono one is correct.

listen to the first you tube version, at around 35 0r 36 you will here him step on the switch to the fuzztone to play the main riff.

i think we mentioned it before but that little switch glitch is so classic.
If it happened on a pop music song of today, they would for sure mix it out.
Happy accidents are what makes things interesting, imo.
