Great band. Was lucky enough to see them at the Filmore in San Francisco around 2000 or 2001. They came out dressed as spacemen and put on a great show.

I saw them in 2002, and it was thee worst concert I've ever been to. Still like much of Hot Shots II, though.

you must have caught them on a bad night man, like Horseyboy said they usually put on a show, ^^that clip in High Fidelity certainly helped them gain a few more fans

Heres an article i found that explains some of the grief they had with their record company who just didn't get them or help them any - http://www.theguardian.com/music/2004/n ... opandrock2

^ I was beginning to wonder if I remembered it wrong. It was a long time ago… But as charge says, the records still hold up well, which is the main thing.

They were usually good live, i did see them once at a festival and they were awful but i put that down to the set up at the festival, maybe they were a bit hit or miss live. On a personal level they certainly had some issues

I saw them in 1998 around the time of The Three EP's CD release.

"Mason's illness gave their music a wry melancholy, but came at the cost of violent rages. He cured himself with kung fu and antidepressants, but before he did raised huge bills smashing up instruments in the studio."
Really wish we had smilies for kung fu and antidepressants now…
