Gold Sola Sound MK 1.5

Post by schultzvil »

Here's a clip of a track just recorded 2 days ago in Vienna, Austria. Little hammond trio doing our take on Booker T's "Jellybread".
Sola Mk 1.5 kicked in for the guitar solo- a vinetto tele, mk 1.5, clean boost, into 2 low watt amps.. enjoy:

Thanks, guys. There's a bunch more where that came from...
Cool thing was, I got the Gold Sola Mk 1.5 the afternoon before I had to leave for these sessions. Made it on 4 or 5 solos, maybe more. Funny as it was mostly a "soul-jazz" record and people wouldn't think of using a fuzz tone, per se, but I know it works with these goodies!
Been using a Super Bee in my live rig for blues/ soul/ funky type stuff, into a clean boost, and getting great results. The Gold Sola is the bomb, though- even nicer.
I'll post some other ones shortly- there are some cool other little gems. The players are cool, too- young guys with some fire...
I'm an old guy but still in the game

Really great sounds. Excellent work and thx for the clips.
It's so cool to hear the pedal in action and in a band no less.
What gets me is all the tweaking,
just crank that bitch and be done with it! -- duende

Nice clip. How was the gain/guitar volume set for the solo?

thanks, guys. Attack knob at about 2/3 , maybe 3/4
then, yeah, the whole game is using the guitar's volume knob. This was a tele, so can't report any actual numbers... just turn until the thing sounds like it's going to explode, then dial it back a bit from the abyss.... something like that. It's a touch/ feel/ sound thing. I've been using a Super Bee in this way on my board for actually playing out and it's been working amazingly. But the MK 1.5 is even cooler- somehow more controllable and sweet sounding.
Really fun doing it like that, the volume knob becomes like your drive knob. I do use a clean boost after the fuzz to bring the overall level up which allows me to fool around with the guitar volume without losing overall level. And it seems to make everything sound more better.... fun stuff.

Thanks, Philip- I've gotta say, respect to you- you've made some amazing sounding clips to demo the D*A*M stuff- and I'm coming from a totally different bag, but I love the clips you've made- very melodic, and definitely reminds me of some good old times, sixties style!
Cool, cool work.
