Good question regarding the level control! I hadn't thought to check. Did some of the 1.5 have 500k like those proto, short-board MKII?
Some early ones have the 500k (or other unusual values). The ones I know about have other early features as well, but I can't be sure how long the 500k thing lasted..

Short board MKIIs were originally MK1.5s, but got upgraded to MKII specs at some point in their life.. The MKII with the 500k just happend to be an early MK1.5 that got converted.
Everything is transitional.

That is box is silly cute and for a grown up abit weird.

It would be nice to hear this against one of the newer SS reissues.

Solas have the 47k to ground off q1 base, so they may be a bit more behaved. I sometimes use it in mine too--if my oc75 are being jerks--but don't have an mk1.5 in the shop currently.

Yah, they seem to be early ones though, or at least the pots are.

Looks great, but it is asking for service and input cap replacement. Transistors also might be changed some time back.
