Thanx Red!

Tried it out now and works and sounds great. With my old AC30 TB it goes whining a bit with the pedal maxed out, but only on the Vox. Hmm. Thought it was dried out first but seems fine on my Gibson Skylark.

One of my grey Vox from '67 has ECG102A transistors. I've never come across another pedal with these. Does anyone know anything about them?

It sounds very similar to my other one with SFT's but slightly harsher I'd say.

ECG and NTE were (are?) two companies that make replacement transistors. The 102A is a generic replacement Ge transistor number.

I would guess they were replaced transistors. Radio Shack used to sell those. (sort of like these)

I bought a bunch of NOS transistors, many are ECG, some Sylvania ECG.

Hi all. Long time reader, first time poster. I've just gotten my first vintage Tonebender and it's an old grey Italian Vox. It appears to be very similar to one posted earlier in the thread by DaCod. The specs I can make out based on read his post and others are:

- Falcon Cap on top
- ATES AC135 / SFT337 trans combo
- Cap below the board says “Made in Italy" - Any idea what it is?
- Not sure about pot values or any other parts. I'm still new to the specifics of everything.

Sadly, there's no tag or markings on the inside or outside, so I'm not sure if it can be definitively dated or not. I'm guessing 1966. Is that correct? The battery clip has had it so I'll need to get a new clip soldered on to the existing cables which should be easy enough.

Sonically, the pedal is pretty brash and leans towards being a little thinner on the low-end, but not as high gain as I expected. Having said that, it's a very cool sound and still plenty dirty. I did see mention of someone bending a cap over another cap somewhere in the circuit and they said it made things sound better to them. It looked like a completely reversible mod. Is there some info out there on that?

Here's some pics:
