Yeah that looks real vintage Ian.
I'm guessing a tricky circuit?

cheers! Yeah just seems real picky about what transistors are used, I can do MK1s/FZ-1s relatively quick these days but Zonks are torture!Doc Holliday wrote:Yeah that looks real vintage Ian.

BTW I basically reversed the OG layout so the input ended up on the left hand side!

Looks awesome, Ian!
I agree with you on the transistor selection with the Zonk circuit. If you don't have a healthy stash of transistors, it's not even worth it.
Even if you do, it's a huge pain to tune.

I believe that's the Zonk I commissioned from Ian.

Thanks Doc Holliday. All these fuzzes are very hard to tune perfectly, you can always have a sound out of them but the more difficult is to approach the sound of original ones.
As it is difficult to find an old one to study it,then the other solution is to find good demos on the web.The best I have found are the one from Acid fuzz for the Zonk and the ones from Graham for the MK1 and MK2.Then you need to have a good stock of vintage transistors, select them then test them onboard variyng the hfe and leakage on each position untill you are close to the sound you want.
I think I am approaching to the sounds I want to hear.
If you like nice repro board, have a look to my mk1.5 board.
