Kevin Ayers using an early 'Clyde' Vox wah (presumably in late-'67/early-'68?)

Here's a couple that I picked up recently. My first foray into vintage wahs. They're both Vox Crybaby's.. the halo is a transition sticker wah, but it didn't come with the original base plate. It's a weird one given the resistor on the inductor, but it looks untouched. Icar Pot and I'm not sure what kind of switch, but it looks original. The second is a very clean film can Crybaby, all original. Very clean & plays like new. Icar pot, arrow switch, etc. Has a chip on the gear but doesn't affect anything. They both sound great.

Yup, just took a closer look at it and it's a marquardt switch. I talked with Stu and he agrees that 100k isn't original. I'm gonna search out a 33k that is period correct and swap that in I think. Starting to wonder what I've got my hands on with this one. :bong2:

He says the rest looks straight. I'm also tempted to send it up for tune-up. I'm already pretty far in the hole with it considering the work done to it. I'd almost say fuck it and send it back, but it's still a halo & icar at the end of the day and sounds good.

Although that iskra on the halo looked a little suspicious it also looked untouched to me too.
I’m pretty sure the switch is original as I have the same switch in my trash can and I’ve seen halo models with the same switch.
Shame about the baseplate but the inductor and pot for me are def the main contributions to overall tone. If that’s the wah you demoed on insta you really made it work with your style

Yup, I agree. Maybe I'll just leave it for now. No need to rush. Yeah I really wish these pedals had the serial number on the inside instead of the baseplate. The stickers don't always hold up.. nor does every baseplate it seems. I sent the seller a message, see if he happens to have noted the serial number anywhere.

Also reminds me this one is in need of some felt tabs, and might see if I can tighten up the mechanical side of it too. Yup that's the one! Thanks. It does work pretty well with 70s/80s gear & music.

For anyone still posting on forums... Got another cool one for you. Another serial # sticker wah, this time a Vox, but with the cast lines in the "o" case. Sadly the base plate was painted over and all that remains of the serial # is I45. Icar pot, Marquardt switch, good parts. Sounds sweet.
