As some of you may know, I'm quite fond of these. :smashed:
Here's an old family shot. All except the LP in the center and the ES in the back are gone. Sauniere's '81 LS80 is second from left. To this day it's the only guitar that I somewhat regret selling.

I currently have a Tokai LS80 from 1983 and a Fender esquire from 1986

The Japanese brands were building better copies of Fenders and Gibsons etc during the 70's and 80's. Fender and Gibson were all over the place back then, getting things back on track around the mid-late 80's when the Norlin era ended for Gibson and Fender coming out with the reissues and US standard line of strats and teles.

A friend of mine had a Tokai Paisley tele like this, it was an amazing guitar....wish I'd bought it from him but it takes some balls to go out and gig with one :hihi:
