The first thing is that these 3 have different underlying boards/components.
After that there is slight variation in the additional controls

These are from the September Sound Instagram;

The first photo is Capricious Red
The second photo is Holy Grail
The third photo is The 47

Sonically, to my ears they are all quite different just at the base tones. The additional switching options them take each of them further in different directions.

The Holy Grail at the base tone sounds tremendously similar to my vintage Guild Foxey Lady with the FS36999 transistors, and thereby similar to the other two vintage big muffs of that era that I own with the 2N5133 transistor. -photos of those old boys attached.
The switching options then really offer some significant sonic changes- the best way I can explain this is that it gives the fuzz tone a more germanium feel.

The 47 is lower gain and has a very unique fuzz tone to my ears. There is definitely an element of mk1/zonk-ness to the decay. This one for the real fuzz lovers. I understand the 47 is so named after vintage units whereby there were numerous components featuring “47” values. This is not a clone of any particular vintage unit but that was the inspiration.

Capricious Red is by far the highest gain and once again the base tone is different. The switching options take it into sonic territory not possible with the other two. The fuzz sound compresses further but sounds as though it is being passed through a low pass with the addition of tape phasing. This would be the one if you like a high gain sound and like filter effects.

Apologies for being slightly MIA - been working super had to get this demo of The 47 out for those who might be interested :party:

Been playing heaps with this and although I tried to showcase as much as I could, there are still literally hundreds if not thousands of great settings and tones in the pedal to be found.

Hope this gets enjoyed! I'm in the process of putting more September Sound videos together too :freakout:
