Yeah, Lach. Exactly. I had a Super Bee 66 too. Lovely black/yellow enclosure. Sounded massive although the wall of fuzz sometimes meant it got swapped out for either the MK1.5 or Behan MKIII. Needed the money..... ouch.

You guys have me swaying towards a Vox TB now. Thanks all for the input!

Keep in mind there was also a Vox with a bigger output cap. It sounds kinda like a 1.5, but less smooth and more punchy in the mids.

A good Vox Tone Bender is tough to beat.

The only answer is probably both.

Can heartily recommend the Castledine Stingray. Absolutely killer fuzz, very versatile. I did a few demo tracks years ago using mine that are probably still lying around the site somewhere…

Yeah, that's probably the only way I've run 'em! They've just never worked out for me really... cheers Jim

Right-o. I've emailed Jimmy Behan about his "Continental" Vox Tone Bender. I was checking out his listings and noticed a few differences between an older and newer build.

Older build - Shielded cabling, a bias control and SFT308 & OC76

Newer build - Gone are the shielded cabling and bias control. Transistors are now SFT307 & SFT323. A few other changes looking at the photos too.

I'm by no means hung up on magic parts and I do trust Jimmy's ears but would any of the above options be recommended over one or the other? I'm overthinking aren't I? i've asked the man himself but good to get folks opinion here also.

You can probably order the one you like by contacting the seller directly?
I had older VOX TB with AC135 / SFT337 transistors and newer with both SFT-s and I preferred older's
sound tone and feel.

I've been chatting with Jimmy at Super Electric and ordered a Vox TB. Will post pics when it arrives in a few weeks. Lovely bloke and great work.
