I just dismantled my 'eyelet board' germanium Fuzzrite (which Jerms kindly repaired for me 8(!) years ago) to take some shots of the pot codes. It's the same version of the germanium Fuzzrite that Jeremy posted on the previous page, but this is proof that Mosrite were still building germanium units by February 1968, if not later. The myth about only "250" being built, between 1966-1968, across at least three different construction methods, is laughable...

A fellow Fuzzrite afficionado forwarded a photo of their find -- we can now expand the range of date codes in germanium units to almost two full years  (the earliest pots I've seen are dated the 15th week of 1966, and are fitted to some of the phenolic 'reverse' board-rites)

Really? I think my germanium Fuzzrite might have 1965 pot codes. I should go and check...

I just lost the drive all my old pedal photos were on, but I don't think I've ever seen a Ge Fuzzrite with anything but 66 pot codes.
(Not doubting you, just an observation)
Dear Bongo, No.
Good deals with all these guys

Mosrite seemed to use a batch of CTS pots with 1965 codes towards the latter part of the germanium period. Jeremy and Simon posted photos of theirs on p9 of this thread. They're not early Fuzzrites though -- all the ones I've seen with those '65 CTS pots have the third type of silkscreened graphics (with the oft-yellowed clearcoat), plastic button on the switch, and an eyelet board build with the .05uF's, identical to Jim's and mine with early-'68 Centralab pots. I bet yours is like that too :tu:

Fortunately I saved most (if not all!) of your excellent Fuzzrite pics!

6647 is a very common date code, which I've seen in three different cosmetic versions of the phenolic Fuzzrite, but they restocked pots in early-1967 too.

I've been waiting months for the sun to finally show itself properly to be able to photograph this one. Electronically, it's not all that interesting -- it's just a standard non-reverse 'phenolic board' Fuzzrite, with the .1uF's. The pot codes read 47th week of 66, but because of the hex nuts on the power switch, it could have been built in early-1967.
What is super cool about this pedal is that it was printed with the first version of the Fuzzrite silkscreened graphics, which is not something that we see very often, because these graphics were updated pretty quickly in early-1967 (although the differences are rather subtle), and the few pedals that got these early graphics are almost always scrubbed completely clean.

This is the version of the Fuzzrite that was pictured in the early adverts
