So the new j MASCIS big muff, tweaked circuit to clone his main BM or, a rebadged rams head?

I guess Ill grab one.

When I think of great J Mascis tone it’s something from the first two LPs, which is an op amp Muff.

…but fuck it I bought one anyway

great point! I also think the first two and maybe a couple moments on BUG are my faves….never really put 2 and 2 together that the Deluxe Big Muff was an OPamp one…but makes sense and makes me like my v4 sooo much more! Maybe I don’t need an OG Violet V2 afterall

I went through a ton of old muffs at one point, including a Deluxe, but the closest to J’s sound from You’re Living All Over Me was a tall font sovtek that someone had taken apart and rewired incorrectly. I “fixed” it but it wasn’t as good afterwards.
