So if we look on this same rejection letter, to J R R Tolkien again:

The letter papers seems to be foulded exatly the same - and there are similar dots on the three letters!

So, yes! You're right! It must be a fake! :badteeth:

How did you find it out, redeyeflight? Was the text too unbelievable?

i don't need no forensics to tell me that no person from 20th century birmingham would refer to a portaloo as "porta-potty"

yup. also dont think "porta-potty" as a term would have even been around in 1953.
