Thorpyfx rerelease Lovetone pedals

Post by stella_blues »

Might be of interest to some folks here....Thorpyfx have recently teamed up with Dan Coggins to redesign some classic Lovetone builds.

They’ve already released the Deep Oggin chorus and the superb Camoflange flanger, latest ones available for preorder are the Field Marshall ( Big Cheese ) and The Bunker (Brown Source).

I do own a couple of Thorpy builds and the quality buildwise and sound wise are up there with the best around. I’m looking forward to trying these latest ones when they get released in March

Yeah these look so cool!! Dans a great guy too!! Spoke to him a few times about amps, music and fuzz. Very knowledgable bloke. Adrian also seems like a true gent! Plus Thorpy pedals look amazeballs

I get a little worried about “reissues” that intend to improve upon the original versions and end up not sounding as good. It seems to me hard to improve on the big cheese. That is simply a classic. The brown source certainly has room for more gain and output. Hope these are cool!! The flanger thorpy released seems fun but is by no means close to the original lovetone unit. Not that it was intended to be but those lovetone pedals are so cool in the extremes that they can go to. Thorpy seems to be more about sublety from what I can discern from the online demos. However, I havent played one in person.

No mention of the Doppelgänger?

I just love phasers so of course I'd say that.

Doppelgänger and a Meatball would be on my want list.

I've always wanted a Big Cheese and toyed with the idea of picking up an OLC Chunky Cheese clone, but the idea of an "improved" version doesn't really appeal to me. I'd probably prefer to spend my money on an original, even though it'd cost a lot more.

I don’t know about the Doppelgänger but I do know there will be a Meatball coming :tu:

I had a couple Lovetone pedals and they are nice. I never really bonded with the Cheese but I certainly understand the attraction. Going to have to check them out.
