Vox tone bender?
I wonder if the Sunn guys ever noticed the Fender twin in the back towering over the Sunn amps!

It does have some of the Maestro/Fuzzrite graininess, but there's quite a lot of bottom end. Reed did definitely use Vox effects in '66-7, so it could be a Tone Bender, sure, but it didn't sound like it to me. It being late '69 I thought he might have moved on to something newer, but having said that, there's no octave or anything going on, and it's not Muff-like.

Re: what fuzz is this?
well, i cranked up my Jen Tone Bender just now and it's more bassy than i remembered (as I've mostly been digging harsher FZ-1-to-Mk1 tones of late), and yeah, reckon it's a Vox V828 on there. It's funny because later on Lou would change gtrs/pedals/amps constantly...

Sounds like a Sunn Buzz fuzz to me, like the fuzz at the end of Sweet Jane.

that would make sense, and is more likely given the time frame and endorsement - i didn't know what one of these sounded like until I listened to this Jerms vid

It sounds cool! will have to build it - it's more or less a Si FZ-1A.
