Ebay Sales Payouts

Post by 1bottlerocket »

Has anyone been selling on Ebay under the new payout system? They cut out PayPal and deposit the funds directly to your account while deducting seller fees and whatnot.

What I am wondering is how soon I can expect the payout. At least with the PayPal method, you had immediate access to your funds and could decide for yourself what to do with your money. This sucks.

edit: I just read their payout schedule and it looks like it could take up to a week to get your money. Does anyone have any experience with this?

In pretty much ever case so far I received the money into my account a day or so after marking the item as dispatched . Most of these have been sales in the £100-200 range , so not sure if you have to wait longer the higher the sale amount though

I just put 3 pedals up on ebay,. Is this new arrangement optional? I'd want my money to go directly into my paypal account like its always been.

I dont currently have a bank account linked either, just a credit card.
Great deals with: Stu, Graham, Sickle, Devnulljp, SteveG, peps1, paine, fuzzface6669, jetofuj, sciencefriction, jerms, rafmax, Bigfoot2000, whiskeyfuneral, monolithfuzz.

It's not optional. The cash will not go directly into your PP anymore, at least not in US based Ebay accounts. I will definitely have to look into it.

Ebay manages the money now (which is a euphemism for keeping it out of your hands as long as possible) and does a direct deposit. They pull sellers fees from the sale and give you what's leftover. It's no fun for me.

Just ended my items. This new payment system is bogus. Ebay just lost another seller with 19 years experience. :gripe:

I am totally with you on that. It is very frustrating. You have to give Ebay all your banking details and the only way to opt-out is to opt out of Ebay entirely. I have 1,200 sitting in the Ebay coffers and who knows when they will deposit it to my account.

I received my money about 24 hours after dispatch but, as above, it was a cheap EPROM eraser I was selling.

in theory I'm willing to wait, to avoid giving money to Paypal -will see how it pans out.

If its anything like the way Reverb works they hold your funds till the item is shipped. And by "shipped" I mean when the tracking number is scanned in by the carrier. Cant comment on Ebay though. But, the long and short of it, IMO, is you just gotta deal with it if you wanna use that service to sell stuff.

I have to check the math but I think it saves about a half-percent. I checked the payout and EBay took 12.5 percent of the total amount which included shipping.
