Re: New amp for giggin'
Vintage fender route is a good idea always: princeton reverb or deluxe reverb are both great gigging amps. In the boutique realm my two favorites are swart and carr. Swart amps are tweed fender-ish sounding and have the best reverb ever. I use a carr telstar as my main gigging amp. And although it has a 6L6 and el-84 tube combo is very fendery sounding. Great advantage with the carr is the built in attenuator. Really useful for venues where you can’t crank things too high. Carr also makes some models which are directly fender influenced but with some cool modern upgrades ala the attenuator and some gain staging built in.
