Well, I spoke to Dave Fox a few years back regarding this era of tone.
Dave said he built a few pedals for Lenny around this time. A MK2 TB and fuzz face being 2. He also built a through zero flange which Lenny would use live to replicate the bridge on Are you gonna go my way.

I’ve since spoke to Craig Ross who said the only fuzz he remembers them using was a old fuzz face.
By the term old I’m guess vintage.
Could be germanium, silicon... who knows. He didn’t.
The tone we here on are you going to go my way is a 50s Gibson Skylark

Dig that killer clear-dirty type of fuzz like Sharon Tandy's "Hold on"

I've always liked from 60's Music Machine "Talk talk" and The Seeds "Pushing too hard" (solo at: 1.11)

Love this thread. One that's always stuck with me is the solo for Deserted Cities of the Heart by Cream. Never been able to figure out what he's using there and always found it to be a really haunting fuzz sound

Yeah I've never been able to tell as the fluttering vibrato he's doing on the solo always made it hard to hear if it was sag and amp distortion or fuzzy note decay. Also expect more songs in a sec because this totally sent me down a rabbit hole of my favorite fuzz songs

I've heard this first one is likely a Power Boost which I've heard is technically in the fuzz family :badteeth:

From memory I think this might have been a Buzzaround on this one

Along with Paperback writer I always imagined this one to be a Pepbox
