Skin Pimp. what happened?

Post by edkoppel »

so about a year ago Skin Pimp pedals were the new shit!
People were getting custom boxes that sounded and looked amazing.
I, myself, bought a custom Fuzz Face and an MKIII. and they both still hold their own again most of my other fuzzes.
So what the hell happened?
I mean, I know that the supply went up and he stopped doing custom shit, but damn.

There are custom MKIII's that I see sitting for sale on ebay and forums, for less than a new one, that no one buys./

it's really weird to me.
I know that hype dropped off, but they are still great pedals.

so who knows>?
anybody got anything for me............. :paranoid:
Oh, DB? That's just slang for Dandy Big muff collector.

TGP is a wave of whatever, and i was actually sick of seeing the folks with claim on a a certain graphik and oooo this is number whatever asking for $5 cosbys.
It's a wash over of the kind of folks that resell for waaaaaaaaaaay more than the builder was paid.
I don't care much for those folks at all.

A lot of people were buying into the look of them as well.
2009 was TGP tonebender year.
2010 is modulation i think.
and every year is klon.....in some annoying fashion.

I think it would be rad if Ryan was more a part of this community, but he's got dealers now and moved away it seems from the personal side a bit.
He did go through family issues as well....so removing the strain of personal treatment with customers made an impact to his time being more attentive to his own situations.

I got a early MK3 which i dig, and had a Big myth...which i wanted to dig, but it was broke and not up to par with his build work, so i sent it back to the seller.
never did get my shipping reimbursed from that seller.

I'd like to pick up something directly from him someday........tired of the used inflation games.

I picked up a buzzaround from out very own POTHOLE, and i got to get into that pedal more.
it deff has the buzzzzzzzzzzzzzz around it.....interesting way to play with the character of that pedal.
gotta start putting a drive after to smooth it out a bit i think....haven't tried that yet.
It's a sharp looking box to boot !!!!!!

no frills, just nice design, build and function.
Let's be fucking honest........

yeah, it's just kind of sad that even great pedals can suffer from people not thinking they have any resale value.
what's cool though, is that now-a-days I can pick up some nice pedals for pretty cheap.

yeah, fuck em all!

i think they are being priced more fair now on the resale.
I'll get a pick when i figure out how to jailbreak/unlock my new used iphone 3GS.
Anyone know how to do that ??
ACK !!!!!

Actually their is one Skinpimp pedal that i really want, and would like Ryan to make me someday...recreate, this one graphik on his skinbender circuit.
Amazing breasts were on there.

Is this in reference to a TGP thread or something?
IMO the only thing detracting from the image is the lack of waiting lists.
It is a bummer that there is no more custom option though.

No reference to anything.
It's just weird to me cause it seems like you can't even give these pedals away anymore?
and I'm not stating that from a seller's point of view, just commenting on the fact that nothing has changed about the pedals themselves, but less than a year later no one seems to want one?

I know its the Hype machine doing its thing, I guess I was just up late last night and thinking out loud.
:zgrin:

well, let's change this to the,
"Who still has Love for their Skin Pimp pedals" thread!

let's see pics:

I'm a fan of Ryan's Buzzaround. The last single we recorded features it heavily (hear it here - http://partchimp.bandcamp.com/album/you ... big-bird-7 or buy 7" from Gringo Records here - http://www.gringorecords.com/catalog/ca ... cts_id=455)
