D*A*M Meathead (Black n’ Gold) – Slayer, Pumpkins Demo...

Post by smogfalls »

Olah!

So, here’s my long overdue demo of the fantastic D*A*M Meathead (this is the single knobbed black and gold version which has a touch more low end). I love this pedal. It has a texture unlike any other fuzz I’ve ever used. Infact, I’m rather disappointed with this demo, it really doesn’t capture the sheer immense-ness of this thing like being in the room with it can. I’m gonna have to find a better way to capture it’s sound, maybe try some different mics and positioning. Then I’ll do another demo :marx:
Anyway, I’m using my Les Paul bridge pickup into the Meathead with the dirt control set at noon and then into the “Normal” channel of my Deluxe Reverb (w/Cannabis Rex), Volume on 2, Treble on 5.5 and Bass on 5.
I play “Dead Skin Mask” by Slayer, followed by “Where Boys Fear to Tread” by the Pumpkins...

And here are some pictures (sitting atop by new Enjoi skateboard) = ENJOI MEATHEAD!...

Let me know what you think.

Yes! Right on Xan!!! :zgrin: Fucking Slayer! Nice to know I'm not the only one playing old thrash riffs through fuzz boxes. :hihi:
You captured the tone of beefy Meat very well indeed. It demonstrates how the extra low end effects the heavier strings and how is smooths out lead lines.

Nicely done sir. :trippn:

Cheers very much Dave  Slayer kick ass, a good ol' bit of thrash never hurt no one!
I've decided I'm definately gonna do a better job of demoing it tomorrow, think I'll try a dual mic setup to get the best of the low and high end (maybe even a d112 paired with a U87!).
I lvoe this Meathead with all my guitars, but I can't decide on what it sounds best with. What do you prefer to use it with?... single coils, humbuckers or p90's?

Yes they do! And no it didn't. :badteeth: Though, I still don't get Megadeth. Nuclear Assault were far superior.

Ha! I use all three :hihi: I've been on a Stooges trip for a long time now so when I'm playing for my own personal desires I'm mainly running the Strat. I think I am becoming addicted to a certain type of geetar?!!? But yeah I likes the beefy Meat either with the Strat and the gain at full tilt on the Marshall or bridge Humbucker on the SG into the Bassman. Both very are different sounds though. The SG and the Bassman give the greatest clarity of tone and most extreme low frequency responce but I likes the fucked up tone I get from the tripping Marshall.

I like your clips Xan! Cool playing there man!
I'm also a big fan of the Deluxe Reverb and Mr Gibbons.

I'm getting a bit old, but I still skate whenever I can. I wonder how many skaters we have on the forum? Surely can't be just the two of us?

awesome! Sounds like we have alot in common! Yeha, it surely can't be just the two of us who skate. I got into skating through music and always saw the 2 things as going hand in hand. The perfect partners if you will!
I need to wear this new board in big time, I'm digging it for flip tricks (super light board with a huge concave), but it's harder to do ramp tricks on. My last deck was a Stereo deck, (Jason Lee of My Name is Earl's skate company for anyone not in the know), and it was an awesome deck. I guess I should just choose a brand and stick with it.

Love that red knob on the Meathead by the way, I might have to track one down :freakout:
