Most underappreciated fuzz pedals?

Post by LJN »

Hi, everyone. I thought I'd start a thread about some of the less well known fuzz pedals of the past. I got the idea from the thread about the amps. I hope that's cool. Anyway, what are your opinions? To start off, I'd like to mention the Ampeg Scrambler. I've not played an original, but my clone can really get some crazy sounds.

I'd also like to add the Mosrite FuzzRite. Again, have never even been close to an original but my home made Ge clone kicks ass! Just a great nasty, spitty fuzz.

Not old and rare but I got a Visual Sound Angry Fuzz that does the fuzz and octave thing pretty well. Got it cheap in NY. It is ugly af

we all appreciate so much fuzz here... it's hard to think of stuff that's under appreciated..... :hihi: maybe menatone stuff.... like the red snapper, chawbox, top boost in a can, the pig and foxy brown... all excellent boxes (the pic is just a generic one i pulled from the netz not mine)

Seconded for Menatone. I love the Menatone Pig. I'm not normally big into "amps in a can", but Menatone does great stuff and the Pig is spot on. I can't think of any fuzz that is really underrated.. most stuff has been discovered by this point and is appreciated.

2nd that! It seems that in recent years there has been a shift. It used to be that everyone wanted either a Fuzz Face, or a Big Muff. Now, it seems everyone wants a Tone Bender. I'm one of the many who want the Tone Benders. Really, not all of them. Just the MkI, Mk1.5 and MkII.
