All original tubes. I'll have my amp tech test each tube. Maybe they or one of them is low. I would change out the tubes if that was the problem.

In '48 I think those came with metal can tubes. I am not too familiar with the inner workings of those versions but I am guessing replacing them could give you a boost in performance.

I think you're right. The tubes all have 1948 dates on them. 03-48. Very cool but probably time to retire those and save them.

Depending on how often the amp was used it is possible some of the electrolytic caps dried up or drifted out of spec. You may want to check those too. I think it would also be worthwhile to check the voltages being put out by the power transformer too. My 18 watt Marshall PT was putting out incorrect voltages so I replaced it with a Mercury Magnetics version and it was a huge jump in performance.

Sounds great!

Tubes will change tone! Especially 12AX7 (I like best Amperex Buggle Boy)

About 6V6 - if you want sound it more clear / detailed and sparkle use old 40's or 50's Ken Rad 6V6 GT tubes

If more

then RCA or Sylvania
