Mystery Fuzzstainer...

Post by edkoppel »

Hey guys! It's been a while. :badteeth:

So I've been going through old photos and came across these. I downloaded them from what I can assume was an ebay auction that I unfortunately missed back in 2013.
It's been labeled "Fuzzstainer" but I can't figure out what the circuit is from that gut shot. Any thoughts?

Iโ€™m not around too much myself anymore. Maybe Jim will chime in. Heโ€™s still around from time to time I think. He made a โ€œFuzzstainerโ€โ€ฆ was it based on this circuit?

Jim's pedal, funny enough, was made based on my original Sam Ash Fuzzstainer. That has way more components than this does, so I'm guessing it's something else. But I don't know for sure!

Nice to see you back Ed. I love the Fuzzstainer circuit it really sounds like a germanium device. Jim makes a killer one. More people should try these.

I hope to see more interesting posts Ed and thanks for stopping back in please stay around. Cheers

Mr. Koppel! It's great to see you back here man! :tu:

Not that I can help, but can you get a better photo of the circuit? ( Where's @analogguru when you need him? )

What do we see here? Point to point construction: 2 silicon trannies, 2 Japanese pots, 3 carbon comp resistors, 1 ceramic cap, and 3 green caps?

You might also want to hit the guys over at the other forum. https://www.freestompboxes.org/
Great deals with: Stu, Graham, Sickle, Devnulljp, SteveG, peps1, paine, fuzzface6669, jetofuj, sciencefriction, jerms, rafmax, Bigfoot2000, whiskeyfuneral, monolithfuzz.

Thank you! ๐Ÿ™ Yeah unfortunately these were the only photos available. Looks like another resistor hiding in there and another cap possibly in the shadow of the pot on the right. I've been trying to match it up to other circuits with no luck so far! Hopefully it just jumps out at someone ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿคž
