1966 Claybridge Fuzz Box (pre-Fuzzmaster)

Post by edkoppel »

I've posted this a couple places already, so I apologize for the spamming, but I figured this group has a particular interest with the history of the Claybridge Fuzzmaster so you might be into seeing this!

Long story, short; I got an opportunity last month to buy what looks to be the same version of the Claybridge Fuzz that's described in this May 4th 1966 ad, with 2 controls, 15ft lead (output cable), and showing the original company name and phone number.

This thing sounds amazing! And totally different than both my original MKIV Fuzzmaster and the d*a*m Fuzz Supreme. There are still a ton of unanswered questions about this, and any of the Claybridge Fuzzes, but if you want the long story, long I just posted a lengthy article on my blog all about it.
Let me know what you think! 🙏

Holy coolness :badlove:
Is it more fuzz or booster soundwise? Looks actually very modern

Great write-up, Ed! Glad you're enjoying it so much. Looking forward to hearing some clips.

Just on postage from Oz to the US, you can get an express international courier service through Australia Post, which uses EMS (just like most packages from Japan), but you will pay extra for it. Just make sure whoever is sending the package uses the premium service (International Courier over International Express). The alternative is to use another courier service, like FedEx or DHL. The Australian dollar is still very weak compared to the US greenback, so you probably won't take much of a hit:-)

Ok! That makes sense. They must just be using the cheapest option to ship 😂 thanks for the heads up!
