Good spot mate, yes it’s a lot louder than the other two! But actually that’s at unity gain. To match the others it would be at about 2 o clockinnerflight wrote: ↑Thu Mar 06, 2025 2:37 pm![]()
I know it’s a pic and doesn’t mean anything but is the Damask louder than the other 2? As the level knob suggests

So - just picked up a “Damask” - holy shit, this thing is amazing. Expensive but completely worth it - thought I’d sample it and let go if not what I wanted. Yeah, that ain’t happening. The only other example I had to compare it too - although not exactly close - is a Sola Sound 2020 OC75 15nf Professional MKII with NOS Marshall knobs (gut shot below). The one in my avatar - no longer have and sold the 1.5 Goldie and phoenix #1 prototype. This is the only one I have now.
That one was much more low mids, deeper, not as crisp and clear, did not clean up much just under biased (although with a MKII I’m not expecting clean up but was surprised this new one did).
This projects better, more articulate and clearer with more hi mids than low mids. Love the chop and gain too. This thing is incredible and based on others discussing 2023 and newer, trending the right way.
10,000 hours right Dave……..

Re: New Sola MKII’s
I have been fortunate enough to try/compare three of the four of these. Ant’s descriptions hold true. A few other observations if they’re helpful:
Damask- lowest gain, lowest noise floor, best clean up, most percussive, max fuzz on the dial is significantly less that the other two but just over the edge into wild
Reve- pretty high gain but middle for these three, great balance in the eq, spot on with the vintage sounds
Gusto- hotter than shit, most fuzz of the three, cuts great, a lead machine, looser feel, background noise about the same as Reve
They’re all top notch.
