Re: maestro boomerang wah- info, innuendo and inference
I have thought about it a lot. 180 pcs is not that many, and the pedigree is golden. The boomer has a limited fan base, but esp due to the shaft connection, it is an iconic pedal.
Also, the condition of the used units is iffy, they almost always have a bad pot, and the trans have become hissy in a lot of them. Not as common, but the electrolytics also go bad in some of them as well.
It is highly uncommon for a reissue to contain all era specific, exact correct old parts saved from original production, not to mention the original guy still being around to build them 40 + years after the fact.
I think a new unit will fare well. He plans to direct market them one at a time on ebay.

^^that wah is still there? i have not tried to buy it. i have too many here already, i have turned into the cat lady of boomerangs.
gagan/boomerang news:
have been working with scotty smith of proanalog, he has designed a cool new ' vocalizer EQ spectrum' mod that introduces a phase shift in midsweep - an idea that i have fantasized about, but he has the superior experience & EE knowledge to do it an elegantly simple way. he and i collaborated back and forth for a couple weeks to dial it in.
i truly believe it is one of the first real innovations in wah circuits in 20 years or more
the mod works on both boomer types and vox CB types.
you can listen to how it sounds when applied to both:

^^^ note the hotrod clyde in the video above was serial #001, has gone off in the mail as a kit to our beloved 'innerflight' - he says he has made a cool enclosure mod to house it - would like to see when done.
below is another, louder clip>>>
this time only the faux boomer kit with vocalizer mod. #001 also.

thank you for listening guys. yes, it is subtle, but very exciting to play. glad you were able to pick up on it. one way to describe it is like a little extra warble in there.
