Oh man! What a pitty that I missed this thread. I've been looking for good NOS transistors for a year now with no luck. I'll keep my eyes wide open and if find a bigger quantity I'll be sure to post here. Likewise, if you find another stash this size (or bigger), please let me know as I'd probably take 50 pieces.

The other quotes I got for stuff was just stupid, like $7 each on up -- for quantity! But I'm still looking...

there are still good NOS Ge transistors around, even on the eeb - and at these prices it's worth experimenting - I got 50 of these military spec 2N1309s - I had good results with 2N1305s, and saw that the specs for these are quite similar... so far they seem good, but haven't tested gains yet

it's worth trying other low power PNP germs if they are cheap - they might not have the Mullard magic, but they can still sound great.

I just got some of these, hope they are good. Apparently they are quite high gain.
