Delays that cooperate with a Meathead?
Hey all,
I have tried a boat load of delays, both analog and digital in my fx chain.
I run my 1 knobbie around 4 o clock....since I am pushing so much volume and fuzz...delays get very jumbled. Hard to really hear them.
I know you are supposed to run the Meathead first in the chain, but it seems the only way to get any type of clear delay, I have to run the delay first. I notice a slight tone suck on my Meathead, if I do this. I don't want anything to ruin the tone of my BEAST.
Has anybody had any luck running a delay after a CRANKED meat?....any input would be awesome.
Thanks

Get an echoplex and fuggedaboudid.
#2 option - the Retrosonic analogue delay...there's a lot of headroom in that thing.
(or grab slomatic's EQD delay maybe? Can't say, haven't tried it).
Are you running your delay in an effects loop or in front of the amp? That'll make a huge difference (esp. if the amp is running dirty).

+1 on the gigadelay.Sickle wrote:No problems ever with a RE-201. I've also got a BOSS Giga Delay that runs fine with it as well as an old Roland Space Reverb rack unit.
Although it's not a sexy boutique delay, it's a real work horse with a huge amount of headroom & works great with fuzz...

Re: Delays that cooperate with a Meathead?
I am running everything straight into the amp, no fx loop.
I pretty much dime my amp, so I am already getting lots of feedback. Seems like if I run the Meat first into the delay, I am just getting delayed feedback, where as if I run the delay first, it sounds much more accurate, but I notice some tone loss.
Just answer this question...do you all run your fuzzes first in the chain?

I always run fuzz first unless i happen to be using a compressor which is rare, the gigadelay works well and i've got an old multivox mini echo that works really well with just about anything but it's a small tabletop type box so if that's in use it generally sits on my amp and is on all the time... nice old analog delay for the money if you ever see one.

Fuzz first.
Meathead -> Gigadelay -> Amp works fine, no need for an fx-loop

Re: Delays that cooperate with a Meathead?
Hi core9 tonight i used my meathead for the first time and experienced similar problem's with my malekko delay, when the fuzz is on and you switch in the delay it had a big volume drop this is the first time i've experienced anything like this with any fuzz pedal's but my malekko has a switch on the side to convert it from true bypass to buffered and this sorted the problem straight away.
Hope this is some help

My Meathead and Deluxe Memory Man HATE each other. I have had better results with my MXR delay and my Univox Echo Chamber.
