Have you read Ferguson's actual tweet on the matter? Hell, it's pasted right there in the article, but you have to actually scroll to the bottom to get to it...

"4/4 - Without those controls (emphasis mine), our assessment remains that the UK would see the scale of deaths reported in our study (namely, up to approximately 500 thousand)."

"3/4 - My evidence to Parliament referred to the deaths we assess might occur in the UK in the presence of the very intensive social distancing and other public health interventions (emphasis mine) now in place.

So which is it then?

Yes, by "controls", Ferguson is quite obviously referring to the "presence of very intensive social distancing and other public health measures" in his previous sentence, i.e. the UK government's recent policy shift.

The article that you have linked is written as thinly-veiled attempt to downplay the lethality of the virus, and this is presumably the reason why you've shared it to this thread. The "leading English epidemiologist" has publicly challenged that biased interpretation of his revised study.

No, I posted those two articles as good news about the virus' progress based on quarantine efforts and actual temperature data based on recent timelines.

Today is a critical day in Switzerland. We've been on closure for two weeks now. It will be interesting to see what they have to say.

Unfortunately, it looks like that is the case.

Boredom more than anything. But video games are helping, and i've got 80 pedal enclosures in the mail so that'll kill some time.
