There used to be an English pub here called Chip Shop that did this (always battered though). I didnt find it gross, per se, just kinda underwhelming. They literally just took a slice, probably bought from a nearby slice shop, and fried it. I think if you reconstructed it in some way it'd be better. A calzone is pretty much just a folded pizza but that would be a better option for frying, i think.

The deep fried pizza thing actually tastes better than it sounds, it would be more like a cheap frozen job you get from a supermarket and deep fried ( not in batter, not here in Edinburgh anyway). It was more a thing when I was younger and you didn’t have a pizzeria on every other corner back then, just chippy’s, loved them as a kid not sure now, maybe after a few pints lol

Here was dinner tonight. Blue cheese, mozzarella, fig pizza with fresh prosciutto and truffle oil drizzle!
