Meathead Deluxe - in full recorded (1 man band) song context

Post by smogfalls »

Hi,

Well, here's something I recorded in a hurry last year for a film a friend was working on. He chose a different track in the end so I never put the finishing touches on this one. I wanted some lead guitars but never bothered to add em' and totally forgot about the track.

I played all the instruments, drums, guitars, bass and yes, even the cowbell and tambourine! ;)

Anyway, I wanted some lead guitars but never bothered to add em' and totally forgot about the track.

Just the other day I stumbled across the rough mix of it again and did some tweaking and thought "fuck it, I may aswell add a lead guitar" so I went through various pedals trying to chase the sound I wanted in my head and I decided upon the Meathead Deluxe. It comes in around halfway through panned left, then I double tracked the lead part from the middle through to the outro. I really like the hefty sound of the double tracked Meathead. Has a really nice vocal quality that has emphasized lower-mids.

Anyway, let me know what you think...

Cheers,
Xan :)

I should add, the sound quality is absolutely sub-par due to the lowered bitrate of the mp3. If you would like the proper wav or 320kbps version just let me know. It does sound alot better, trust me!... it's especially noticeable on the drums.

Oh, and also, the really low-fi gritty/gated rhtyhm guitar part is a Penny Pedals Fingerprint. (a pedal regretabbly sold shortly after recording this :bangs head: ).

Cheers,
Xan :)

Cheers dude, it's much appreciated.

I just changed the file to a 320kbps mp3 so the quality is more as it should be now :ztongue:

Good stuff there man! Your timing on the drums is pretty damn good!
Most guitar players would moan like fuck about the drummer speeding up or slowing down, show them how it's done eh?
Oh forgot to mention. nice fuzz tones
