Is this a celestion greenback or not?

Post by CONAN »

Not sure if it's the 'original' one but it came from a 70's Sound City 4x12. I don't know how to date it but it looks old enough to me......

I have all four speakers for sale if anyone fancies them?

Greenback is in reference to the color of the plastic magnet cover. You find this cover on G12M-25 and G12H-30 models. If they are 55 htz they are a bass cone (My personal favorites) and if they are 75 htz they are a lead cone. You will also find these speakers with cream and black colored magnet covers.

There should be a code on the speaker frame with two letters and 1 or 2 numbers. This will be the date code

Not sure about all of them - I have only seen this one actual speaker!!! I am taking them all out tomorrow though so can give you all the facts then.

How much would it be to ship them to you Sickle? Furthermore, how much do you want to buy them for?

Conan,

If you post the date codes I am happy to help you determine the production dates. If you don't want to post the codes you can pm me.

The Z is a little wired, but GF5 is July 5th 1973.
