Was there an issue with it, or did you just decide you wanted to try germanium? Just curious what you were going for. It looks, and I'm sure sounds, beautiful!

I'd always preferred Ge Fuzzes, the head buzz was always my "white whale" i missed out on the first run that had the NKT's and then when this one popped up in the buy/sell I nabbed it, and unfortunately the BC183L's just weren't my thing, so after a couple of chats with the cap't i decided to go with the NKTs, and man i'm glad I did... I've had a few Ge fuzzfaces (sunface, mjm etc) and this leaves all of them for dead... by a long shot, the clean up is amazing, i can pretty much just leave it on and control the level of gain from my volume control on my guitar... I think Dave's description nails it...66Park wrote:Was there an issue with it, or did you just decide you wanted to try germanium? Just curious what you were going for. "Okay so, NKT275's. I set-up the circuit so it has a touch more gain that what would be common for a vintage germanium Fuzz Face, not much at all, just a little teeny tiny amount. The clean-up is, very clean. This thing into a driven amp and you really don't have to think about turning it off. You can ride all the drive or clean-up you need just from the guitar. It does have similarities with the MKI.5 but the lows are a tad more extended. Not mushy but heavy. It blends easily into a nicely driven amp which is where I would say it excels. Just think of the common Hendrix live rig type approach."

Rad! The blue silicon head buzz is easily one of the best silicon fuzz faces, new or old, I've had the pleasure of playing. Just a crackin great pedal. This one looks extra nice!
