A few tips....


Start by placing transistors, IC's, etc in the center and work your way out from there. Eventually you'll get to the point where you won't need to do this, as you'll be able to "visualize" the layout before you even do it

Graph paper can be your friend, especially for stripboard layouts. Place your transistors...build out from there, remembering that the horizontal lines represent the copper strips on the stripboard.

Before starting your layout, look over the schematic. Count the number of resistors and write it down. Count the number of caps and write it down. Count the number of "nodes" (places where components join together) and write it down...etc, etc. You can mark off each component as you get them placed.
