Re: Hifi separates still a thing?
I have an old Conrad Johnson amp that I found at an estate sale back in the day. I ran it through a pair of Heybrook HB1 speakers and a (very) old-school Phillips CD100. I thought it was about the coolest HiFi system ever. Sadly everything has been sitting in storage since I moved to Switzerland. I will hopefully get the amp and speakers out here at some point.

Re: Hifi separates still a thing?
Jerms hipped me to the wonders of 60s HH scott integrated amplifiers. He has several! I scored a nice 299b on ebay a while ago and Jim did a cap job on it for me. There really isnt anything like it!! Just a lovely sound although a bit underpowered for my system if you really wanted to crank it. One of these days it’d be cool to get a McIntosh but if anyone is looking to dip thier toes into the vintage HiFi world you could do a whole hell of a lot worse than one of those HH scott systems. Was well under $500!!

Not being possessed of any musical talent, most of my disposable income goes to records and stereo equipment rather than guitar stuff. I have a very nice vinyl playback system and absolutely love it to death.
@stella_blues: the Node 2i is supposed to be a very good streaming solution, but a little spendy. I use an AudioEngine B-fi for streaming which I think costs around $200 and does the job just fine.

I dig the Scott and Fisher small integrated amps. As long as you can get them serviced, they're hard to beat for the money. I have a McIntosh MAC1500 which is in the same range. I think I got it for $250. It runs a quad of 7591, unfortunately new ones don't sound like the old ones nor put out the same power.
