Ernie Isley ripping it 1972

Post by Geoffrey »

Some of you guys might not know about Ernie Isley, a truly killer guitarist. Watch him doing his Hendrix trib thing, back in 72. I have a soft place in my heart for these guys. My ex father in law roadied for these guys back in the day. He got my teenage daughter in to a local gig of theirs, backstage and everything. It was a great memory of hers, especially now since my ex father in law is gone..
Also, Ernie learned his first chops and got his first guitar from Hendrix himself, who was living and playing with the Isleys back in the early 60's. Really, the whole damn band has skills. Maybe you won't like their style, but I do..

I love these guy. Who's That Lady, I Got Work To Do. I love his tone. Always wondered what he used to get that phased fuzz tone. Also if you check out their early stuff (I think before Ernie was part of the band) you've got Jimi James (Hendrix) playing on Testify Pt 1 & 2. Killer.

Yo

Awesome. Love the Isley Brothers. On the back of "Go For Your Guns" you can see a big muff onstage. I would guess his famous fuzz phase tone is a Big Muff into a Small Stone recorded direct.
