Re: Greasebox GB-83
I got my GB-83 on Thursday and have been playing around on my normal amps at low volume getting used to her. Plugged it into my Champion 600 this morning, which is loaded with a 6K6 so I can crank it without upsetting the missus, and all I can say is....wow. The guitar/pedal/amp came alive and the sound is incredible. Looking forward to my next gig so I can crank her through my Kingsley Deluxe 30................

Spent a lot of time with the GB-83 over the last couple of days & I'm really loving it now.
At low volume it only seemed to work well with single coils - lovely dirty boost with Garagey swagger. Sounded too muddy with humbuckers until I cranked the volume. The last 10th of the dial is where it's at! Grit, grease & tons of body. Took it to rehearsal on Tuesday to let rip with a loud amp & it thunders. The only pedal I've found that can compete with a Sonic Titan's output & articulation at full tilt. I'm astounded by how it interacts very differently depending on the guitar / amp setup.
Here's a clip from rehearsal with 1991 Gibson Explorer - Greasebox - Orange OR120 into an Engl 4x12

That sounds awesome Jim! I need to check out more of your stuff.
The GB83 is a great pedal and I thought it was kind of like an extra greasy Titan. Really wish I still had mine..

Wow! That sounds fucking killer, man! Right on the money there. I still have much love the that circuit but I do think I fucked up in the way I presented it. It ain't no bedroom player for one and you really have to dig into the thing to get results. A tickler it is not.Jim Goad wrote:Here's a clip from rehearsal...

Cheers. Good ol trusty 4-track, cassette recording!
Yeah, you really have to let it rip & push the amp's input for the GB-83 to shine. I think I had the sustain backed off ever so slightly & the amp was clean but right on the edge of break up.
New Grimpen Mire material is going to have big globs of grease all over
