High-end problem
Hello, I'm new here. Never posted.
I was lucky to get one of the first 10 list Fuzz Sound pedals!
I like it very much. It sounds much better than any other Tone Bender I ever had.
I really like that with the volume at full there is this high end boost.
It's great for running the pedal all full with a little overdrive from the amp.
Today I plugged the pedal into my pedalboard for the first time. I only played it direct to my amp before.
First I played just the FS and set the controls. It sounded good.
Then I tried it with my Carbon Copy and there was a huge treble boost on the dry sound (not the repeats).
So I took the MXR out of the signal. Then I tried my Catalinbread tremolo and T-rex Replica. The same thing happened.
After tring the FS by itself again I started thinking that it sounded a little muffled and that the treble boost is how it should always sound.
I'm sure this problem is caused by my rig and not the pedal but I cannot figure what I'm doing wrong.

Is the Fuzz Sound first in the chain? If not, put it there.

My signal is:
Gibson LP Standard (stock pickups)> Fuzz Sound> MXR Carbon Copy> Catalinbread Semaphore Tremolo> T-Rex Replica> Orange Overdrive amplifier.
Powered by Voodoo Lab Pedal Power 2 Plus.
The cables are not very good but I don't think they are causing the problem.

Hey Lorenzo, There must be something in those other pedals to cause the Fuzz Sound to amplify the higher frequencies. Possibly the MXR has an internal buffer of some sort!?!? I'm not familiar with the pedals you mention so could not say for sure.
So you are getting a boost in treble only when used with these other effects? Do you mean when the pedals are bypassed or active? Where is the tone control on the Fuzz Sound positioned? Is the treble boost apparent all the time regardless of where the tone control is set? Does lowering the volume of the Fuzz Sound help any?

Re: High-end problem
The boost appears with the pedals active.
I usually keep the tone control of the Fuzz Sound around 2 o'clock.
Moving the tone control or volume control does not eliminate the problem.
I am sure the T-Rex is not true bypass and has a buffer but I think it is on all the time.
Don't know about the MXR or the Catalinbread.

Re: High-end problem
Just start taking pedals out of your chain until the prob goes away.

This would mean I should have just the Fuzz Sound on my board.hunkowood wrote:Just start taking pedals out of your chain until the prob goes away.

Since the problem is appearing only when I engage the other pedals I can just use it by itself.
It's a pity though. No delay?

Re: High-end problem
he's saying to try combos .. maybe it's just ONE of those pedals to give the problem.
So start having ONLY the fuzzsound and the mxr in chain... and see what happens...
if all runs good... add a pedal to the chain .. and see what appens. With fuzzes incompatibilities happen, I guess

Re: High-end problem
I tried every combination and it does the same thing with all of my pedals.
I new that fuzz pedals don't like buffers placed before but didn't know they don't like them after.

Re: High-end problem
Do you have an effects loop in your amp? You may try running your modulation through that and the fuzz in your main chain.
Never argue with an idiot, they bring you down to their level and beat you with experience
